Construction Product Engineer

BRE is a world leading, multi-disciplinary, building science centre with a mission to improve buildings and infrastructure, through research and knowledge generation. BRE is undertaking a major four-year R&D programme in the construction sector together with a consortium of partners and stakeholders, focusing on developing offsite modular construction, digital technologies and processes.

A key part of this programme will be the product validation of offsite building systems and components through the development of new technical standards and test methods. This is an exciting role for someone with a background in Civil Engineering to support the development of innovative products and new ways of testing them.

Quality Audit Engineer

BRE is undertaking a four-year R&D programme in the construction sector together with a consortium of partners and stakeholders, focusing on developing offsite construction, digital technologies and processes. This role is for someone with experience in construction materials, UKAS accredited auditing companies, following factory production control systems, offsite manufacturing, advanced product quality planning tools and standards development.

Consultant Data Analyst

The Housing and Health team develop a range of modelled indicators based on the current housing stock.  The data and accompanying reports are the basis of a well-established and respected business.

Our customers are predominantly local authority officers responsible for housing, public health and domestic energy efficiency policy across the whole of the housing stock but with a focus on the private sector. 

The team’s main focus is therefore to provide modelled indicators of house condition, the health impact of homes, energy efficiency and households in fuel poverty.  The team also support services to commercial organisations such as insurance and energy companies.

Technical Consultant - Assessment Support

Health & Wellbeing Manager

BRE’s Health & Wellbeing Team (H&W) provide support to everyone working at BRE across the main head office site in Watford as well as other sites across the UK and internationally. We are looking for a forward-thinking, solution-orientated, agile Junior Health and Wellbeing Manager to join our small, busy team.

Currently we are a small, busy team of two who work across a diverse range of health, safety and wellbeing activities including;

  • managing certificated management systems (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001), working closely with our colleagues in the Compliance Team
  • providing consultancy services across the business, supporting decision-making through sound, expert advice and practicable solutions
  • assisting management and colleagues in health, safety, wellbeing and environment matters

This is a new role within our H&W team that has arisen as a result of business need. We are looking for someone who is either fully or part-qualified in Occupational Health & Safety, has ambition and wants to progress their career towards a senior leadership position in the medium term.

Graduate IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer

IT Services team at BRE are the custodians of BRE data and responsible for the maintenance, support, security and availability of BRE’s IT infrastructure.

IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer role is part of a highly technical team within IT Services that is responsible for the maintenance, support and management of BRE’s Data Centre, Network, Server and SAN Storage infrastructure to meet or exceed agreed service levels. This infrastructure includes physical & virtual servers, central data storage, network devices, security appliances, telephony and conferencing & presentation services (voice and video). The primary purpose of this role is to provide proactive and reactive support, maintenance and improvement of this infrastructure.

This highly technical role also requires excellent customer focus and strong customer service skills in addition to good knowledge and understanding of ITIL, ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.

Fire Installer Scheme Manager (LPS 1048)

Due to the continued success and expansion of the LPS 1048 scheme (certification of Sprinkler Contractors in the UK and Ireland) BRE Global, under the brand name LPCB, requires additional resources to operate the scheme and is looking for an experienced sprinkler engineer with good management and interpersonal skills.

The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) has been working with industry and insurers for more than 100 years to set the standards needed to ensure that fire and security products and services perform effectively. LPCB is part of BRE Global and in a globally renowned brand.

Training will be provided for this role. The position will be home based and will involve visits to installer’s sites and their offices throughout the UK and Ireland. On occasions, overnight stays will be required.

Principal Engineer, Building Structures (Wind Engineering)

BRE are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with industry experience to join our Fire & Building Technology Group, and lead our Wind Engineering team.   

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated individual to bring their technical knowledge, commercial acumen and industry network to help grow the portfolio of this important, technically demanding and long-standing BRE unit. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Structural Engineering, specifically but not limited to Building Aerodynamics and its impact on Structural Design.  Ideally, the candidate will have experience of Wind Microclimate, Wind Loading and Building Aerodynamics as well as knowledge of Wind Tunnel testing. 

Whilst experience in standardisation is not an essential requirement, candidates with practical work experience in normative work will be preferable.
