Civil Engineering Technician Apprentice Level 3

Why is this role key to our business?

 

We are looking for a number of Apprentices to join our busy Construction Testing Team at BRE on a Level 3 Civil Engineering Apprenticeship, delivered through our training provider, Skills4Stem - Apprenticeships – Skills4Stem.

The team works on a large variety of building materials and systems. We have projects that involve testing from microscopic samples, up to full scale mock-ups of built structures and everything in-between so this is an exciting and varied opportunity for you to develop your skills and experience within Construction.

We have 3 positions available, all of which will have the opportunity to rotate across the following 3 areas:

  • Materials testing
  • Stone and slate testing
  • Wind/structural load testing

The successful candidates will spend time working in all areas of the Construction Testing Team during their apprenticeship, working alongside industry experts.

All roles will include a mixture of hands-on activities such as constructing test structures and desk/office-based work.

Successful candidates will be provided with full training and support throughout the apprenticeship. In return, individuals will be expected to work within different sized teams depending on the work and autonomously once confident in specific tasks.

Fire Test Engineer - Large Scale Testing

Due to an internal promotion in the team, we are looking for a hardworking and detail focused individual to join our busy Fire Test Laboratory as a Fire Test Engineer – Large Scale Testing. 

You will supervise the customer and their contractors to ensure safe construction of the test specimen (facades and cladding systems), document build details and be responsible for conducting the fire test and subsequent test report against National and International Standards.

Principal Consultant - Fire Protection

Assurance Product Manager

This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of fire safety and to help shape the support we provide to the industry. The role is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the Product Lifecycle, including:

  • Evaluating the assurance products and capturing the maturity, development needs and opportunities to integrate / cross sell with other BRE products in assurance and building performance.
  • Researching and evaluating the market opportunities and threats.
  • Gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements.
  • Defining and gaining approval for the vision and strategy  across the assurance products.
  • Formulating and gaining approval for the product roadmaps.
  • Building business cases to support investment in new or existing products.

Housing Consultant/ Researcher

BIM Trainer

Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer

Why does this role exist?

We are looking for a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our busy IT function. This role will be part of a small, technical sub-team within IT Services that is responsible for the operation, maintenance, support, management, and continuous improvement of BRE’s Data Centre, Network, Server and Storage infrastructure.

The team has a broad remit which includes physical & virtual servers, central data storage, network devices, security appliances, telephony, and conferencing & presentation services (voice and video), supporting approx. 550 staff and c. 180 VM’s.

Additionally, BRE are undergoing some significant systems changes so the perfect candidate will have opportunity to get involved in a range of change programmes and improvement projects.
