BRE operates on annual revenues of £50m, secured through the provision of a complete range of advisory, testing, certification, commissioned research, digital products and training services, covering all aspects of the built environment and associated industries.  Globally active, with approximately 550 employees, it has a physical presence in the UK, the Republic of Ireland and China and Innovation Parks (where we showcase the outputs of our innovative industry and academic collaborations) in the UK and China.

Our Graduate programme is a two-year scheme, which will provide the successful candidates with the opportunity to deliver projects across a broad range of programmes, growing our business while helping to:

  • Tackle climate change
  • Protect people and property
  • Create more sustainable communities and buildings
  • Develop and assess new materials
  • Be more innovative in the way the built environment works

You will be given the opportunity to work on various projects within BRE Group in a series of six to twelve month rotations. Our business divisions cover specialisms such as; building structures, energy modelling, resource efficiency, sustainability, fire sciences, physical and electronic security, innovation, project management, marketing and business development. This will give you an overview of our business and provide you with strong foundations to launch an exciting and rewarding career. You will each be assigned a Mentor, who will help guide and advise you throughout the programme.

By the end of the two years, this programme will give you the confidence to take your career to the next level in the built environment sector. With a broad knowledge of the various aspects of our business, you will be able to make an informed decision about your chosen speciality, and we would hope to offer you a permanent role within BRE Group in which you can fulfil your longer-term ambitions.

Requirements:                                              

We will look at candidates across various disciplines, and would actively encourage candidates with at least a 2.1 degree or equivalent in the following subjects:

  • Environmental Sciences
  • Environmental Management
  • Architecture
  • Material Sciences
  • Mathematics and Statistics
  • Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Electrical, Mechanical and/or Electronic Engineering
  • Applied Sciences
  • Fire Engineering and related subjects

  • Business Studies

  • Political Sciences
  • Marketing/ Corporate Affairs

Students studying MSc or PhD are also eligible to be considered for the programme.

Remuneration & Benefits:

22 days holidays, plus bank holidays and 3 company privilege days between Christmas and New Year, free on-site parking, staff restaurant, football pitch, tennis courts, small gym and many out of hours social activities.

The starting salary will be £23,000 per year with incremental increases on rotation dependent upon performance, with a potential salary of £25,000 and a promotion on completion of the two-year programme.

Important Information:

The closing date is Friday 26th March 2021. Following a process of shortlisting, the selected candidates will be invited to attend one of our Virtual Selection Days (dates to be confirmed) in May 2021. 

The successful candidates will start on the scheme on Wednesday 1st September 2021.

We have a responsibility to check that all our employees are eligible to live and work in the UK. To qualify for the Graduate programme, you must have the right to work in the UK for at least two years following your studies, without sponsorship.

Covid-19 Update – Whilst it is our intention for our Graduates to be able to start their journeys based at our Watford campus, it may be that you begin your programme remotely in the first instance.
