The Fire Detection team within BRE is a leading provider for the testing and approvals of fire detection products under the internationally recognised LPCB brand, ensuring that end users can trust the performance of the products they purchase.  Our testing covers control panels, a wide range of detectors and associated components, and alarm transmission systems. BRE has extensive world class facilities for the testing of fire detection products to European and international standards.

Construction Sector Marketing Manager

BREEAM Scheme Consultant Existing Buildings Team

BRE Global is responsible for developing, maintaining and managing BREEAM, the world-leading Standard for the environmental assessment and certification of buildings. BREEAM In-Use (BIU) and BREEAM Refurbishment are new and fast-growing Schemes that enable clients with major property interests to assess the environmental performance of their assets in operation or during refurbishment and fit-out.

 

We are looking for a dedicated consultant to support the relevant Scheme Managers in the development and promotion of these important Schemes in the UK and internationally. The role will involve working on a range of technical support, product development, delivery and promotional activities in support of the Scheme and the work of the Existing Buildings Team, including:

 

  • Maintain BREEAM International by working with our team of national scheme operators
  • Internationalise the non-domestic versions of the Refurbishment scheme
  • Assist in making improvements to the assessment methods to ensuring they are fit for purpose
  • Keep up-to-date with advances in environmental products and standards
  • Compile regular competitor analysis and review market trends   
  • Assist in the delivery of assessor training courses
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation for the Scheme and associated agreements and contracts and related web publications
  • Support with internal and external audits  and answer assessor and general queries
  • Undertake research and analysis for new initiatives and collaborations
  • Proposal preparation for non-standard applications and large volume clients
  • Project delivery and reporting to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct promotional activities, both written and presented.

 

The successful applicant must demonstrate the following skills, knowledge & experience:

  • A technical understanding and ability to apply broad & detailed sustainability principles.
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong technical writing skills and experience of contractual documentation
  • Application of project management skills
  • Commercial experience of relating market demands to product development.
  • Public speaking, with the ability to express technical ideas and promotional content
  • Able to understand reasonably complex calculations, which underpin the BREEAM Schemes, with knowledge of the use of spreadsheet tools and macros desirably.

 

With experience in key areas which might include:

  • Understanding and applying the principles of verification and certification
  • Preparing for internal and external accreditation audits
  • Updating scheme documents - dealing with complex technical queries by phone & email.

 

Successful candidates will:

  • Have at least a 2:1 in science or professional services degree related to the built environment or environmental management.
  • Be fully conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint,
  • Be an excellent communicator and presenter
  • Be self-motivated and be able to deliver effectively under pressure
  • Be prepared to travel internationally to support our expanding network of international clients and national scheme operators

Cyber Security/Risk Analyst

The Cyber Security/Risk Analyst is responsible for assessing information risk and facilitates remediation of identified vulnerabilities for IT security and IT risk across the organisation.

Assesses information risk and facilitates remediation of identified vulnerabilities with the BRE network, systems and applications. Reports on findings and recommendations for corrective action. Performs vulnerability assessments as assigned utilizing IT security tools and methodologies. Performs assessments of the IT security/risk posture within the IT network, systems and software applications, in addition to assessments for allowing authorised 3rd parties access to BRE data and/or systems.

Identifies opportunities to reduce risk and documents remediation options regarding acceptance or mitigation of risk scenarios. Facilitates and monitors performance of risk remediation tasks, changes related to risk mitigation & reports on findings. Maintains oversight of IT and authorised 3rdparties regarding the security maintenance of their systems and applications. Provides project status reports, including outstanding issues as directed by the IT Director. The Cyber Security/Risk Analyst assists in all IT audits, IT risk assessments and regulatory compliance
