Building Energy Modelling - Methodology Analyst & Developer

BRE’s Sustainable Energy Team provides government, commercial organisations and individuals with technical support on a variety of areas related to the energy performance of buildings. Junior Test Engineer - Wind Tunnel

We wish to appoint a Technician or Junior Engineer to join the Fire Building Technology Group based at Garston, near Watford.

The successful candidate will join a team working in a wide range of areas which could include weather tightness testing of windows, doors and building materials, mechanical testing of partition walls and barriers, wind uplift testing of roof tiles, wind tunnel testing of building models, etc. The job could also include on-site testing. There will also be opportunities to get involved with other aspects of the job such as data analysis, writing client reports and project management.

This would be a perfect role for someone with a level 3 qualification in Engineering, who is looking for their first step on the career ladder, as we will train you up in how to run and conduct wind load tests.

Customer Success BIM Data Engineer

Overview of Role

 

We have an exciting new role for a BIM Data Engineer. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a key focus for BRE and for the Construction Innovation Hub programme. Key to the delivery of BIM is the requirement for structured data. As such, we are seeking to employ a BIM knowledgeable engineer with a data science background to aid with the definitions of UK construction data standards, tools and demonstrator projects. These roles will work in a collaborative way with other multi-disciplinary colleagues across a range of projects.

This is a great opportunity to work on leading edge research in the construction sector, working with a number of expert organisations across the country.

BRE is undertaking a major four year R&D programme in the construction sector together with a consortium of partners and stakeholders. This is to deliver the Construction Innovation Hub  focusing on developing offsite construction, digital technologies and processes, supported by a £72m grant from UKRI (https://constructioninnovationhub.org.uk). The work of the Hub will continue beyond the period of this grant.

Graduate IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer

IT Services team at BRE are the custodians of BRE data and responsible for the maintenance, support, security and availability of BRE’s IT infrastructure.

IT Infrastructure & Network Engineer role is part of a highly technical team within IT Services that is responsible for the maintenance, support and management of BRE’s Data Centre, Network, Server and SAN Storage infrastructure to meet or exceed agreed service levels. This infrastructure includes physical & virtual servers, central data storage, network devices, security appliances, telephony and conferencing & presentation services (voice and video). The primary purpose of this role is to provide proactive and reactive support, maintenance and improvement of this infrastructure.

This highly technical role also requires excellent customer focus and strong customer service skills in addition to good knowledge and understanding of ITIL, ISO27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.

Principal Engineer, Building Structures (Wind Engineering)

BRE are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with industry experience to join our Fire & Building Technology Group, and lead our Wind Engineering team.   

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated individual to bring their technical knowledge, commercial acumen and industry network to help grow the portfolio of this important, technically demanding and long-standing BRE unit. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Structural Engineering, specifically but not limited to Building Aerodynamics and its impact on Structural Design.  Ideally, the candidate will have experience of Wind Microclimate, Wind Loading and Building Aerodynamics as well as knowledge of Wind Tunnel testing. 

Whilst experience in standardisation is not an essential requirement, candidates with practical work experience in normative work will be preferable.
