Technician/Junior Test Engineer - Wind Tunnel
We wish to appoint a Technician or Junior Engineer to join the Fire Building Technology Group based at Garston, near Watford.
The successful candidate will join a team working in a wide range of areas which could include weather tightness testing of windows, doors and building materials, mechanical testing of partition walls and barriers, wind uplift testing of roof tiles, wind tunnel testing of building models, etc. The job could also include on-site testing. There will also be opportunities to get involved with other aspects of the job such as data analysis, writing client reports and project management.
This would be a perfect role for someone with a level 3 qualification in Engineering, who is looking for their first step on the career ladder, as we will train you up in how to run and conduct wind load tests.
The person appointed will ideally have a product testing or product evaluation background, or have a ‘hands on’ practical approach. They will be hard working and self motivated, with a flexible approach to work. A willingness to learn is essential, as are good verbal and written communication skills.
A degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, aeronautical engineering or similar is required at Junior Engineer level, a relevant vocational qualification or good A levels is required at Technician level. At least two years’ experience in a similar test environment is required. A full driving licence is desirable.
